For my design work at Coffee Hound, I really wanted to focus on using elements of the already existing brand design, and incorporating my own style within that. Some examples include using a clean geometric typeface for the main menu, that is similar to the main logo. I placed a big focus on ensuring everything that I was designing was readable from a distance and stood out on their own. Solid colors, easy to read typefaces, and adaptable designs were the main things I really wanted to place a big emphasis on to make sure that people loved Coffee Hound even more than they already do. Working for such a iconic, local cafe is very uplifting and it is very cool to see the local community interact with my designs.

Starting my design journey at Coffee Hound off strong, I was tasked with redesigning the main menu that would be in every cafe and seen by hundreds of people daily. I knew from the very start that I wanted to use a typeface that would allow for different weights to do a lot of the sectioning of the menu, and so that the entire menu would be made with just one typeface. The red bubbles are meant to draw attention quickly to the options available, as well as providing a comfy and cozy energy that blends well with the energy of a cafe. In order to keep everything as clear as possible, I added the sizes when applicable to each section just to avoid any confusion regarding the drinks available.

Sticking with the theme of menus, Coffee Hound also provides seasonal offerings and I made designs that reflected that. With these designs, I took more of a creative approach to differentiate it from the main menu and as a way to promote the special seasonal drinks. I really wanted the feeling each season brings to be really visible with the seasonal menu designs. Each of them are unique in their own way to make sure they all stand out from one another, but still keeping true with the main idea of making sure that they’re very easy to read and that they quickly convey information. Additionally, there are recipe cards for each seasonal menu and the theme of those match the designs of the seasonal menus just for better consistency. Other smaller things that I designed were bakery tags for all the pastries, various posters for events, promotions, and for social media as well as other things that was necessary.
